This research is divided by three groups based upon the research expertise (economic experiment group, natural and social experiment group, and system development & local research support group). In the first year, several themes of experimental research are selected via field tour and preliminary survey. Directions and methods of research are determined by each experimental group with the help of the system development & local research support group. From the second through fourth research years, on-site experiments are to be conducted. Each research member analyzes the research data, proceeding to composition of research papers and conference presentation. After the final research year, the research outcomes are planned to be published in international research journals. The research methodologies in FSM can be applied to the future research activities in the Republic of Palau and the Republic of Marshall Islands. Furthermore, the research target can be extended to Polynesia and Melanesia, and completes the research activities in the Pacific Ocean island countries.
